Maureen Castell
Science Fiction Romance

Award-winning author Maureen Castell has been devouring books since she learned how to read, but fixated on fantasy and science fiction after reading “Prince Caspian” (C.S. Lewis) and a short story titled “The Last Question” (Isaac Asimov). Eventually she started writing her own stories, and after deciding she preferred happily-ever-after endings (especially after watching the movies “Ladyhawk” and “The Princess Bride”), she turned her writing to romance with a science fiction or fantasy twist. Maureen won the Diamond Heart for her debut time travel novel "The Viking Who Fell Through Time", the first book in her “Vikings in the Bronze Age” series. She lives with her husband and a yard full of visiting birds, cats, and rabbits. When she isn’t working on her next novel, Maureen enjoys reading, cross-stitch, and hiding from the prairie winters. The gods were not amused...
Top-notch enemies to lovers play here, and Ms. Castell makes the most of her characters and their wary dance. This is a very character-driven story (my favorite type) with believable stakes and motivations. The mark of a good tale--I'm pretty darned impatient to find out what happens next, and heartily encourage this author to get busy with the next installment, in order to satisfy my rampant curiosity.

Engaging and interesting.
Although not the genre of book I usually read, I thoroughly enjoyed Maureen’s book and am looking forward to the next book in the series.
